The Organizational Valuation of Valuation Devices: Putting Lean whiteboard management to work in a hospital department

Amalie Martinus-Hauge, Department of Organization, Copenhagen Business School

Valuation Studies, 2016 (4)

In this paper Hauge argues that valuation device rarely jumps into a value-ridden context a begin to produce value. Rather it must compete with all sorts of already existing (mundane, embedded) value. Her empirical setup takes place at a childrens hospital, which is working to unfold lean whiteboard management. She call on classic organization theory to frame “context” – she suggest an “organizational turn” in valuation studies. She aims to contribute to the wider culture/device debate.
